Moving beyond the comfortable phase of friendship, E! Online has reported that the two musicians are dating.

According to an insider for the website, the duo became friends after writing a song together, getting closer to each other day after day. "They are both doing great", the source said.

Last month, Grande told Ryan Seacrest about her special connection with the rapper and her sentiments on their collaboration for her album, referring to Big Sean as one of her "best friends".

"I did another song with one of my best friends, Big Sean, and it's called Best Mistake, and it's one of my favorites on the album", the pop singer said.

However, the friendship may have turned into something more special and romantic as the pair was spotted leaving a late screening of "The Purge" at Los Angeles' The Grove. According to the same source, the two were locking lips while watching the film and left before it ended.

Last Monday, Grande tweeted about the release of "Best Mistake" from her new album.

The 21-year-old singer recently called it quits with 19-year-old comedy star Jai Brooks from Australia as "he was not there for her during a difficult time". According to E! Online, people supported the pop star when her grandfather was dying, all except for Brooks.

Grande then posted a tweet that was rumored to be aimed at her ex-beau. She said, "You learn a lot about love, life & the people around you during a time of crisis."

The singer began dating Brooks in August of 2012 but the pair reportedly broke up in July of 2013. They had gotten back together last May when they were seen embracing each other backstage at Los Angeles' iHeartRadio Awards.

Meanwhile, Big Sean had been engaged to "Glee" actress Naya Rivera but called it quits last April after the rapper reportedly made the big decision to stop the wedding.

After their highly publicized split, Rivera married actor Ryan Dorsey after three months in a secret wedding in Mexico.
