This summer, many Chinese broadcast networks launch new reality television singing competitions, among which, the most popular singing competitions are "the Voice of China" and "Super Boy". Gao Xiaosong, a Chinese well-known composer, songwriter and music producer, pulled no punches on contemporary music environment in China. He spoke bluntly: "Chinese people of Han nationality are not versatile performers. Most people who participate in the reality television singing competitions are for wealth and fame."

When Gao Xiaosong was asked why he didn't hold a post in one of these reality television singing competitions this year. He explained modestly: "the judging panels are good enough. I'd better not to go."
Gao Xiaosong went into a long monologue about Chinese reality television singing competitions. He thinks these competitions are too utilitarian now. Gao said: "Han nationality people are not good at singing or dancing. Remember that? Whenever a history teacher talks about a minority nationality of China, the teacher will tell you it is a versatile nationality. However, when history teachers mention Han nationality, almost all the teachers will just say Han nationality has vast territory and abundant resources. No one will tell you Han nationality is good at singing and dancing."
Gao added: "Keep your eyes open next time. When many people gathers together, after satiated with food and drink, minority nationality people will sing and dance. But Han nationality people will just talk big around the tables. So most people who participate in the reality television singing competitions are for wealth and fame. If you really love singing, you can sing in the street."
At last, Gao joked: "There are only three things Han nationality people aren't good at. Firstly, dancing; secondly, singing. The last one is Chinese football." The trash talk set the whole room roaring with laughter.
