The Philadelphia Eagles released controversial quarterback Tim Tebow on Saturday after the team traded his third-string signal caller competitor Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, as Chip Kelly reportedly said they would settle for a two-QB roster to start the season.

Tebow barely became an official Eagle, something that a lot of his fans and followers were expecting after Barkley's departure, as he was the 22nd player waived to cut down Philly's roster to 52, one less than the required 53.

"We felt Tim has progressed, but we didn't feel he was good enough to be the (No.) 3 right now," said a poker-faced Kelly.

That pretty much summed up Tebow's existence in Philadelphia this summer.

However, ESPN recently reported that the Eagles gave that one last spot to a certain Stephen Morris, an undrafted second-year pro recently released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, which means that Kelly changed his mind and decided to still sign a guy from Florida only not someone that goes by the name of Tebow.

This also meant that the prize Tebow and Barkley had been competing for all summer long went to a Jaguars' reject playmaker. One NFL exec allegedly said that Morris is "bad" when asked to describe the former Jacksonville practice player, according to NJ Advance Media.

Morris started five games in his first two years with the Miami Hurricanes during college, throwing seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions. But he finished his college career strong with 49 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

In the recent preseason, he finished 23-of-42 for 242 yards and a touchdown for Jacksonville, ending up with a passer rating of 79.7. In comparison, Tebow had a rating of 90.7 after the preseason while Barkley had 57.5.

NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk initially noted that Tebow could still "return to the Eagles at some point this season" but with the acquisition of Morris, it seems like this is really the end of the 28-year-old Heisman Trophy winner's NFL career.

Reports went out that even if Tebow had improved his throwing motion by leaps and bounds under Kelly, his ability to read defenses and pass accuracy is still not enough for the 51-year-old coach to give him a roster spot.

The reactions from Tebow fanatics, as well as from Eagles' supporters, remains to be seen after they hear this latest decision from Kelly.
