The torch relay for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games was completed in Nanjing on Tuesday.
There were actually two relays. One was a traditional physical torch relay that ran from the Dong Shui Guan relic park to the Jiqing Gate, a route that runs on top of the Ming Dynasty City Wall in Nanjing.

The second was an online relay, with a mobile app you can download to pass the digital flame between friends.
The official site for the Games explains the online relay was a way to encourage youth from all over the world to engage in an active, healthy lifestyle.
The physical relay was 45 legs. To start the torch was lit by Yang Weize, Executive President of Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee, and the last leg of the relay was run by 2008 Olympic fencing gold medalist Zhong Man, a native to the region.
The opening ceremony will be held on Saturday and the Organizing Committee is holding rehearsals for the 90 minute show, however the jubilant atmosphere obscures real threats.
As was pointed out in this ChinaTopix article, Youth Olympics delegation chief for Japan Yosuke Fujiwara urged Japan's 78 athletes to keep as low a profile as possible in light of the powerful tensions between China and Japan over the disputed Diaoyu/Senkaku islands.
Fujiwara urged them to not wear anything explicitly Japanese unless they are competing in an event or within the Olympic Village.
Still, China is trying to create an international and safe atmosphere. In addition to an Olympic Village with a youth design, athletes had the chance to participate in activities such as learning Kung Fu.
The Olympic Village is not only meant to house the international athletes, but to also encourage them to make friends and share knowledge, China Central Television reports.
The Games and opening ceremony will be held in the Nanjing Olympic Center from Aug. 16 to 28.
