Mikhail Youzhny ended Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's winning streak by ousting the Frenchman 6-1, 6-4 at the first round of the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati on Tuesday.
After upsetting four top 10 ranking players and winning the Rogers Cup title last week, Tsonga seemed to be plagued with fatigue, yielding to Youzhny in a lopsided two-set match.

The new World No. 10 Tsonga appeared to be worn out during the match at the hard courts of the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio as he was plagued with unforced errors during the first set which the 32-year-old Youzhny took advantage.
Tsonga began to loosen up on the second set but unforced errors allowed Youzhny to take the set and match.
"I don't have the energy to compete," Tsonga admitted after the match. "I just gave everything last week."
Tsonga's road to the finals in Toronto is his most momentous tournament, taking down World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the third round, outlasting eighth seed Andy Murray in the quarterfinals, defeating Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov in the semis, and capturing the crown against 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.
Youzhny is currently ranked 19th in the world and will now face Italian Andreas Seppi in the second round.
Third seed Stan Wawrinka defeated qualifier Benjamin Becker in two sets with Becker giving the Australian Open champion a hard time on a tie-breaking second set 6-3 7(7)-6(5).
The 29-year-old Wawrinka advances to the third round of the tournament and awaits the winner of the matchup between 14th seed Marin Cilic of Croatia and Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.
World No. 1 Djokovic will face Frenchman Giles Simon in the highlight match late Tuesday in the second round of the W&S Open.
French Open champion Rafael Nadal wasn't able to defend his crown in Cincinnati due to a wrist injury he sustained while practicing at his home in the Mallorca Islands.
