The Christian drama film from Sony "War Room" was the first choice of movie-goers this weekend. The film that teaches the audience the power of prayer pushed off "Straight Outta Compton" to second place after being the champion in cinemas for three weeks. The film stunned everyone and hit the top spot as people embraced its plot.

The movie shows the life of a couple who has everything. They have their dream house, great jobs, and a beautiful and smart daughter. But their life changes when the husband cheats. The family works together to surpass the one big challenge that they did not expect to come in their lives.

Here is the estimation of sales from September 4 to 6 based on Rentrak's analysis:

1. "War Room" - earned $9,350,000 for a total of $24,663,458.

2. "Straight Outta Compton" - earned $8,848,840 for $147,784,545.

3. "A Walk in the Woods" - earned $8,250,000 for a total of $10,250,000.

4. "Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation" - earned  $7,150,000 for $180,386,692.

5. "The Transporter Refueled" -earned $7,130,000 for $7,130,000.

6. "No Escape" - earned $5,445,000 for $18,446,079.

7. "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." - earned $3,445,000 for $39,379,148.

8. "Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos" - earned $3,400,000 for $3,400,000.

9. "Sinister 2" - earned $3,377,000, totalling $23,716,893.

10. "Inside Out" - earned $3,146,000, which has now grossed $348,219,280.

The producer, writer, and director of the movie Alex and Stephen Kendrick never thought that they will hit the top spot. "War Room" is the fifth film that the Kendrick brothers have created. 

"This film hits a need in our culture that is becoming more and more obvious," Kendrick told The Wrap. 

The success of "War Room" seems to be historic, and this has been the first time that a Christian film won the top spot in cinemas after five years, following "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." 

Other movies like "Minions" and "Ant-Man" have earned $2.7 million and $2.8 million, respectively, during the Labor Day weekend.
