Creators of Siri Develop Viv, a Self-Aware AI Far Superior to Siri

Since the creators of Siri don't think their technology is intelligent enough, they're now building an even better version of her.
This successor is named Viv, which means "live" in Latin. Viv is deemed by its creators as "the future of intelligent agents and a multibillion-dollar industry."

Siri was a much-talked about inclusion in Apple's iPhone 4s released in 2011. It's since become famous and well-loved and has spawned competitors such as Cortana.
Siri's technology, given a female voice, seemed almost human. It was almost like conversing with an actual person.
It was almost like asking another person a question and getting an answer, that is, until Siri directs you to travel blogs when you ask it to book you a flight.
The flaws behind Siri's technology became apparent after initial consumer amazement about the digital assistant wore-off.
A small group of engineers decided to change all that. They decided to work on a better version of what was an already unfathomable innovation a few years back.
The team formed a small startup called Viv Labs to create a new artificial intelligence (AI) with none of Siri's limitations.
They aim to create an AI that can actually teach itself. They wanted the AI to generate its own codes without the help of a programmer.
They also wanted an AI that can understand complex commands such as "Give me a flight to Dallas with a seat that Shaq could fit in."
Viv, the AI being developed, will be even more human-like than Siri.
The team has been working on Viv for two years. They envision Viv being utilized as much as electricity is, especially since the world now relies on technology to power daily living.
They hope Viv will become the "default conduit" by which the world connects to a "global brain" and to the confusing wealth of information online.
Dag Kittlaus, a co-founder of Viv Labs and one of the creators of Siri, said "Siri is chapter one of a much longer, bigger story."
Kittlaus' fellow Viv Labs co-founders, Adam Cheyer and Chris Brigham, also helped create Siri.
Cheyer shared they're extremely proud of what they've accomplished with Siri. He said they now want to do something even bigger with the help of Viv.
"I want to do something that could fundamentally change the way software is built," he said.
