The Belgian Tennis Federation has won an appeal for Ukraine to cease hosting the upcoming Davis Cup in Kiev citing political unrest in the country, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced Tuesday.
The committee in charge of reviewing the appeal pointed out that the original decision it rendered was not unanimous, because it was considering the security situation in Kiev last week remained "fluid."

The ITF originally granted Kiev to hold the matches from Sept. 12 to 14.
The federation also announced that it rejected the appeal of the Israel Tennis Association which sought hosting the Davis Cup match between Israel and Argentina on the same dates. Israel has until Aug. 14 to nominate a new venue for the event.
ITF President Francesco Ritti Bitti said that it is always a difficult decision to take away the rights of a country to host the event and that "safety of players, officials and spectators has to take priority."
Ukraine has "five working days" to nominate a new neutral venue for the playoffs event where the winners will advance to the 2015 World Group which is the highest level of Davis Cup competition while losers will be moved down to their respective zonal positions.
The Davis Cup, also known as BNP Paribas, is the premiere international team annual event featuring men's tennis players from around the world.
The contest is done in a knock-out format with five players from each country competing against each other.
The current champion is Czech Republic who reclaimed the crown from Serbia and won its third title. The United States currently has the most titles with 32 followed by Australia with 28.
The competition started in 1900 where the United States were declared the winners while Great Britain is runners-up.
