Apple's HealthKit App Could Help Keep You Healthy

Apple, Inc. makes health a serious matter with its iOS 8.

Apple is currently in talks with various hospitals like Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic and Mount Sinai Hospital to discuss how the health information these hospitals have can be used in its HealthKit app.

William Morris, executive officer of Cleveland Clinic, confirmed the hospital's clinical solution team is now testing a beta version of HealthKit and that they provide feedback to Apple.

Apple's HealthKit was launched during the Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this year.

HealthKit sums up all the information from different health and fitness apps and trackers available in the market.

With the launch of iOS 8 later this year, users will get HealthKit's stored data from their healthcare provider when they visit a hospital or clinic for check up.

Last June, Apple announced that Mayo Clinic and Epic Systems, a company that provides technology for a number of hospitals across the United States, as their partners for the health app.

Apple's move could mean more hospitals around the country could support HealthKit.

Meanwhile, Apple's iWatch is expected to have a huge component of health and fitness monitoring.

Apple said the wristband is expected to have onboard biometric sensors that help keep track of personal metrics like number of steps taken and pulse rate.

All these personal metrics could be summed up by HealthKit.

Apple plans to launch the iWatch in September along with the newest edition of the iPhone.
