Microsoft released its regular update to Windows 8.1 on Aug. 12 to fix bugs and introduce new features.
The update will add new features along with regular bug fixes present in the monthly update rollups. Persistent rumors in recent months said Microsoft intends a massive update to its operating system, like the one the tech giant offered in April, according to ZDNet.

Instead, Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc wrote in a blog on the company's site that regular minor updates will be the new norm.
"Rather than waiting for months and bundling together a bunch of improvements into a larger update as we did for the Windows 8.1 Update, customers can expect that we'll use our already existing monthly update process to deliver more frequent improvements along with the security updates normally provided," LeBlanc said.
When installed on the Windows Server 2013 R2, Windows RT 8.1 or Windows 8.1, the KB2975719 update stays true to LeBlanc's statement.
The new features include additional information on the Windows Update tab in the PC's settings that specifies the time and date of the last update check and installation. As of the moment, the information can only be viewed at the desktop's Control Panel when checking for Windows updates.
The touchpad has received noteworthy refinements to its settings. Individuals that control the cursor with a mouse rather than the built-in touchpad will find the ability to manipulate the touchpad's settings, such as disabling it when a USB mouse is connected or just simply disabling it.
Other features include automatically barring out-of-date Java plug-ins that are potentially dangerous to the computer in the default Internet browser, Internet Explorer.
Individuals who use Microsoft's SharePoint Online service with federated accounts will no longer have to login multiple times after choosing the "Keep me signed in" box. The ruble, the monetary unit for Russia and other eastern European nations, is now available.
