(Photo : Reuters) Senior U.S. and Chinese officials have recently concluded a top level meeting on cyber-security ahead of a visit by President Xi Jinping to Washington later this month.
Top U.S. intelligence officials have concluded a four-day meeting with a delegation of senior Chinese officials. Both parties discussed several issues, however, cyber-security was the most prominent topic.
The U.S. has been affected by a series of cyber-attacks on state and private companies. Washington blames Chinese-sponsored hackers for these attacks. But Beijing has consistently denied the accusations.

The meeting between senior officials from both countries was crucial because of President Xi Jinping's impending visit to Washington later this month.
Last week, U.S. President Barack Obama warned that the repeated attacks are infuriating his government. Obama is expected to highlight the meeting between U.S. and Chinese officials in his welcome statement for the Chinese leader. The Obama administration has warned of retaliation against the repeated hacking, which the president described as a "national security threat."
U.S. national security adviser Susan Rice reportedly had a "frank and open exchange about cyber issues" during the meeting with Meng Jianzhu, the China's Communist Party's secretary of Political and Legal Affairs Commission.
Meng also held separate meetings with FBI director, James Comey and homeland security secretary, Jeh Johnson. The Chinese delegation held meetings with FBI representatives and intelligence officials as well as members of the state treasury and Justice departments.
Meng reiterated China's commitment to fighting cyber threats and stressed that Beijing recognizes the importance of collaborating with Washington to combat hacking.
"China's position on opposing hacking and stealing commercial secrets online is resolute," Meng said.
According to Xinhua, Meng said his meeting with U.S. senior officials that they successfully reached "important consensus " on several issues.
