Charlotte Hornets point guard Jeremy Lin found it difficult to convince a security guard at his team's arena that he was indeed a Hornets player, according to Yahoo Sports .

According to Lin, the NBA's first Chinese-American player, when he exerted efforts to  convince the lady guard that he plays in the NBA , he was asked "what team"?

While Lin recently went undercover as a trainer at a gym--using a wig and fake beard to play the character named Wayne-- for an Adidas commercial, said Sports Illustrated.

However, this time he showed up with his real identity and still wasn't recognized.

Lin, who traces his roots to Taiwan, played at Harvard and was undrafted by any NBA team.

He played for the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks,  Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers before signing a free agent deal worth $4.3 million over two years with the Hornets in July.

The addition of Lin addresses two Hornets priorities: that of improving their outside shooting and adding depth at point guard.

Lin  will take the place of Mo Williams as the point guard behind starter Kemba Walker with 3-point shooting and pick-and-roll skills.

Coach Steve Clifford intends to field Lin along with Walker together at times to be able to have  two pick-and-roll players on the floor.

Lin is among seven new players in the Hornets roster that Clifford said would need to adapt to change quickly.

Clifford said with the scheme, they can put pressure on the defense at one side, then switch it to the other.

He made a name for himself during the second half of the 2012 season with the Knicks, hitting big shots and veraging in double figure scoring that earned him the nickname "Linsanity."

However, Lin's playing time and production decreased during stints with the Rockets and Lakers.
