The 3D Touch display technology in iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus is one of its innovative features that separates the phone from its predecessors. But it was also believed to be the source of the added weight in the latest iPhone versions released.

At first glance, many believe that the added weight was brought about by the new aluminum alloy - similar to those used in the aerospace engineering. But according to Apple, it is not main culprit as to be the source of the bulk in the weight.

Online sources, such as The Verge and the Apple Insider, revealed that the bulk of the increase in weight was caused by the innovative 3D Touch display. The new 3D Touch display weighs 29 grams for the iPhone 6S and 40 grams for the larger iPhone 6S Plus.

It predecessors, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus only had 12 grams and 19 grams, respectively. It is clear that based on the figures, there has been a major boost added to the new 3D Touch display in iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

The overall weight of both the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have dramatically increased due to this added feature. According to the AppleInsider, the 3-D Touch display accounted for the 20 percent and 21 percent increase in the overall weight on both devices. Prior to the official release of the iPhone devices, there were already rumors that it would come larger and heavier but none had any conclusive idea of what might contribute in the increase of weight.

The 3-D Touch Technology, according to Apple, is the next generation to Multi-Touch. This is the first time in all mobile devices history that such feature is being highlighted. The 3-D Touch display system in iPhone 6S and 6S plus.

The 3-D Touch display measures and analyzes the pressure applied to the display of the iPhone device. Having this feature brings a greater dimension of functionality of the device.

The new display also introduces the peek and pop which will let the users preview all kinds of content in the device. And more than that the user can even interact and make changes with these contents.
