The two massive wildfires in Northern California had reached the tally of 1,000 homes on Sep. 19, Saturday, after the authorities did the damage assessments.

In the foothills of Sierra Nevada, there were also 250 houses destroyed by the fires that are still threatening other thousands-about 6,400-of structures.

Daniel Berlandt, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokesman, said that the count of 511 homes destroyed by the flames more than a week ago in Calaveras and Amador counties comes as firefighters were able to make progress and damage inspection teams have access to the affected areas. Cal Fire reported that 252 homes were destroyed as of Sep. 18, Friday night, by the fire that scorched the area of 110 square miles, according to Yahoo News.

Berlandt added that some of the homes are located in the rural areas that it takes a lot of time to reach them.

According to another report by Seattle PI, only 67 percent of the fire was contained, which killed at least two people. Moreover, a separate fire in Lake County, which is about 170 miles northwest, also destroyed 888 structures in which 585 of them were homes, and it killed three people.

The Middletown residents who were mainly affected by the massive wildfire in California were allowed to return to their homes on Saturday afternoon. However, evacuation orders for other Lake County areas remained.

The flames burned down 116 square miles in Lake County, and only 50 percent was contained on Saturday. In 12 hours, 62 square miles of the area have been torn by the fire.

Fear for the major gains that could not be undone increased because of the weekend heat that descended on the wildfires after several favorable days.

The Lake County fire survivors said that they never got an official evacuation notice when the danger was its peak a week ago, which the authorities defended that they tried to reach the people in the remote areas.
