Barcelona striker Luis Suarez will learn about the outcome of his appeal against a suspension after he bit Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during the recently concluded World Cup.

After the biting altercation during the group stage last June 24, the Uruguayan player was given a four-month ban, a nine-game international suspension, and a fine for £66,000.

An appeal was filed, but failed. FIFA's appeal committee upheld the sanctions soon after.

Suarez with his lawyer and adviser, Alejandro Balbi, then forwarded their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), stating that the four-month ban should be reduced as it infringed on the player's "fundamental rights."

In a recent interview with El Observador, a Uruguayan newspaper, Balbi stated that reducing the sanction by a few months was more logical than reducing the ban for international games.

He continued saying that it's easier to legally contend against the terms of suspension because it violated his fundamental rights to train and be at the club.

Now, two months after the event, a statement has been released that confirms that the controversial striker will discover the outcome of his appeal within the next 24 hours.

The CAS has announced that their verdict regarding Luis Suarez of FC Barcelona and the Uruguayan FA, "on Thursday, August 14."

"At the request of the appellants and with the agreement of FIFA, the CAS has conducted an expedited arbitration practice. As a consequence, the CAS Panel has accepted to render its decision within a short period of time but with grounds to follow later."

This past World Cup incident was the third time that Suarez has bitten a player during a game.

However, the incident has not stopped him from signing a £75 million deal with FC Barcelona.
