The latest version of Office software Microsoft Office 2016 was launched on Tuesday by the U.S. giant tech Microsoft. It is the key software that can do a collaborative work across multiple devices for most major companies' workflows, reported by PC World.

One of its competitors, Google Drive, has strong collaboration features that a file can be edited by multiple users at the same time. Google announced Monday that there are 1 million businesses actively using its Drive for Work collaboration and storage product in order to a larger number of individual consumer users. So Microsoft updated their major Office 2016. The new features have support for real-time co-authoring in Word. Without altering information used by someone else, multiple users can work together on the same Word document.

Microsoft Office 2016 still has the base components: the word processing program Word, PowerPoint presentation, and the Excel spreadsheet application. It will also work with Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. It is available in 40 languages.  It has a key feature that has real-time collaboration on documents. It is being adapted to the company's strategy of shifting away from one-time sales to an Internet cloud-based system that can be accessed from PCs and mobile devices. It makes Office easier for users to search a particular in-app function such as setting line spacing without navigating the series of buttons and menus available inside Office apps. It may be confusing to users who do not need it.

According to Fortune, Microsoft is planning to expand the multiusers functionality to other applications. It has proposed this capability in its Webs apps already. Microsoft has begun offering a private preview of GigJam which makes it easier for users to work together across multiple services and applications. And sometime next year, it plans to make it available in Office 365 which is delivered online as a subscription service. Shrink-wrapped versions of Office 2016 are still available at retail.
