William Chan, a 29-year-old Hong Kong singer and actor, released a statement on his official Weibo account on Sunday to announce the end of his 5-year relationship with Charlene Choi, a 32-year-old Hongkong actress and singer (a member of Cantopop group Twins). After five minutes, Choi also published a similar statement on her Weibo account.

"Our love is not that strong as we imagined. We decided to end our relationship peacefully. " Chan said in his statement.
This break-up statement shocked fans of the couple side. It got more than 10 million clicks and 260 thousand "likes." But a large percentage of the couple's fans do not seem happy about their split.
Chan and Choi admitted their relationship in October 2010, after latter ended 3-year secrete marriage with Ronald Cheng, a Hongkong singer and actor.
At that time, Choi was already a very famous singer both in Hong Kong and Mainland China. But Chan was not well known until his appearance in a very popular television drama Swords of Legends in 2014.
Many of Choi's fans think that Chan took advantage of her popularity to developing his own career during their relationship. They were unhappy about this and started a war of word on Weibo with Chan's fans.
"Please stop the hurt and attack. Stop take care of everything except our works. We need more spaces to work and enjoy life." Chan said in the Weibo statement.
On Monday, Choi was interviewed and clarified the split reason.
"Both of us have suffered extremely pressure from the Weibo attack. And we are too busy to solve it. It really hurts when fans attack each other. " she said to the press.
