Will we finally learn the deep secrets of the ocean floor? Google is certainly prepping us for this experience.
Google hopes to add a 360 degree view of the underwater world as part of its "street view," which works much like street views on Google maps.
Members of the team undertaking the project liken the "street view" to scuba diving through a computer.

The project was executed through a partnership between the U.S. government, Catlin Insurance and Google.
Just this week, scientists have been trying out underwater cameras at the Florida Keys with the hopes of successfully creating 360 degree maps that will help them research and manage marine sanctuaries. The effort is focused on domestic territory inside the U.S.
Cameras being used have three circular lenses that can capture panoramic shots 20 times larger than the original.
Instead of being mounted on the roof of cars, the 143-pound SVII cameras rotate and move with the aid of small motors held up by divers.
The team of scientists aims to release the marine "street view" as early as the end of this week.
They hope that this initial offering will prompt lengthier investigations into more hard-to-explore and hard-to-reach depths.
