According to a press release posted in PE Hub, CliniCloud will spend the seed fund for massive production and marketing of the kit to the public in the succeeding months. The financial support will also be used for inventing other useful medical products as well as in initiating company expansion to cover more countries worlwide.
"This funding round is an important boost to help us transform the way we think about healthcare in the home," said CliniCloud CEO Dr. Andrew Lin. Further, digitizing these basic medical apparatus and connecting them online to a group of physicians and telemedicine associates, parents and care providers can be empowered in their family's healthcare even at the comfort of their homes.
Physicians Andrew Lin and Hon Weng Chong, CliniCloud founders, wish to provide their customers with the suitable medical kit that will enable them to make more accurate healthcare decisions. The innovative apparatus includes a non-contact thermometer, a unique connected stethoscope and a mobile app. It also allows the users to monitor their basic vital signs and remotely convey the data to their doctor.
Tencent Chief Exploration Officer David Wallerstein stated that the innovative connected stethoscope will enable physicians to listen to a patient's vital organs (heart and lungs) and determine its condition, remotely. Thus, the doctor can discuss possible treatments to the health issue.
This newest medical tech kit already passed medical grade quality and convenience tests. In fact, the CliniCloud stethoscope or "StethoCloud" has received commendation at the Microsoft's 2012 Global Imagine Cup Grant.
Initially, the connected medical kit will only be available on CliniCloud's website. Meanwhile, Best Buy agreed to bring CliniCloud's home healthcare kit to the U.S. and Canada before the year ends.
