‘Shazam’ with Dwayne Johnson to Possibly Hit Movie Theaters Soon, Reports Say

"Shazam," starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, is possibly among the slate of still untitled superhero films that Warner Bros. is planning to release in the next few years, according to several reports.

Warner Bros. and DC Comics recently announced that they are coming out with nine films between 2016 and 2020, Cinema Blend reported. Included in the lineup is a possible Justice League movie, while fans are expecting Batman and Superman to be featured in more films. Wonder Woman could also be in for a feature length since actress Gal Gadot, who plays the Amazonian warrior princess, has a clause on her contract for a solo movie.

Despite the upcoming new movie featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, there are still a lot of empty slots left in the lineup, which leaves many fans wondering which other heroes from the DC universe will have his or her own live action movie.

Among the DC heroes speculated to have his own screen time is Shazam, with Johnson possibly attached to star in the titular role of the mythical hero.

In July, the "Hercules" star revealed on Twitter that he has signed on to play a DC comics character for a new movie.

Johnson posted an image of Superman and Shazam fighting Black Adam, complete with the caption, "Someone's gonna get it."

The character of Superman is already being played by actor Henry Cavill, it only leaves Johnson's choice down to two - Shazam or Black Adam, according to reports.

The actor also recently told Total Film that the character he is going to play is not Green Lantern, but "he has the power of Superman" and "he can throw down... just say the word."

The "Shazam" movie is reported to be scheduled for release in July 2016.
