Marketplace sellers received an e-mail from Amazon Seattle-based Web retailer saying that they will stop selling the Apple TV and Google's Chromecast. This is because those devices do not interact well with prime video. Amazon stated that there are still no new listings of products that are allowed, and by this coming Oct. 29, posting of existing inventory will be removed.
Apple's spokesman Tom Neumayr refuses to make a comment regarding the matter, and also Google representative also declined to comment.
The company added that Roku Inc.'s set-top device, Microsoft Corporation's Xbox and Sony Corporation's PlayStation, which work with Amazon's video service, are not affected. Gamepolitics reports that prime compatible devices and third-party apps similar to those available on console will continue to be supported.
Amazon's best-selling electronic device is the Amazon's Fire TV stick which plugs into an HDMI port to connect televisions with streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video. The company has invested heavily in online content, including production of its own exclusive TV shows such as the award-winning transgender comedy Transparent, to attract new Prime subscribers that pay $99 per year to have fast shipping services and easy access to video and other services.
For those consumers who want to own Google's Chromecast device, the product is available through Best Buy and Walmart. Apple TV, of course, is purchased at Apple Stores or online stores and will be available for the price of $149.
