Some people would just say: It started only with a single shot of energy drink and then gradually two to five cans a day. And now you have some cans stored in your fridge for some easy grabs anytime you feel like having a sip for an added ounce of energy.
It might feel great when the drink shoots you up with some extra doses as you almost feel you have a virtual wing that makes you fly -- not minding an extravagance for those virtual wings. But these are just a few things your body pays off when you take an energy shot.

An average cup of coffee contains 80mg caffeine while an energy drink can contain 80mg-500mg caffeine. And having an almost 10,000mg of caffeine, which means 150 cups of coffee or 50 energy drinks, is enough to kill a human. Consumption of energy may lead to anxiety, sleep disturbance and severe headaches.
A large intake of caffeine may lead to release calcium from heart cells that affects heart beat. Energy drinks are also believed to disturb the normal balance of salts in the body -- causing chest pains and palpitations.
Alcohol and energy drink is a super cool combination that will make you stay active for long, but the truth is this combi makes you consume more alcohol than what you normally do. Alcohol and energy drink means consumption of more sugar, calories and caffeine which then affect you physically and psychologically.
Studies indicate that pregnant women who consume more than 200mg of caffeine per day are twice as likely to have a miscarriage as compared with pregnant women who do not consume caffeine. Experts suggest that pregnant women limit caffeine consumption to 200mg per day.
You have been drinking energy drink thinking that it would help you stay active. Thus, this shocking truth reveals that a can of energy drink contains high level of sugar and two cans of energy drink daily increase your average level of daily sugar intake -- making you feel more tired, sleepy and depressed. Studies also have proved that an excessive level of caffeine intake affects cognition.
Since 2004, 34 deaths due to energy drink consumption have been reported. Now, dare to consider this fact the next time you give your fave energy drink a shot.
