An Ohio grandmother thought she was being 'funny' after she took photos showing her two-month-old granddaughter lying with potatoes in a roasting pan, although not everyone seems to be laughing.

In fact, West Columbus grandma Jackie Sheaks was visited by authorities from Child Services and the local sheriff's office to make sure the baby was alright after the disturbing images of her infant granddaughter went viral over social media.

Another photo shows the two-month-old baby sucking her pacifier as it is duct taped to her cheeks. Both photos were criticized over Facebook as Sheaks explained that the props photos were posted online for the sake of fun.

The grandma explained that the incident began as a joke which the family wanted to share with friends because "everybody that knows us, knows we play around like that."

However, not everyone was quite so amused by the images and Sheaks found herself on the receiving end of criticism on social media as people accused her of child abuse and negligence.

Worries about the welfare of the infant girl in the photos have become critics' main concern.

Sheaks clarified that she would never hurt or even think of hurting her grandchildren and that no one in the family posed any objections to the stunt, not even the baby's mother.

After the photos went viral on Facebook, many concerned citizens and nuisances alike have been adding and sending all kinds of requests to the family members' Facebook accounts.

According to Sheaks, the incident has taught her a valuable lesson. The grandmother vowed to never repeat the act again, admitting that she now understands that her own humor might not seem so funny to other people.

Reports indicate that the 'clever' grandmother will not be facing any criminal charges and the baby girl is safely in her mother's care.
