The season starts on Oct. 28 and TNT lined up a doubleheader with the defending champions San Antonio Spurs taking on the Dallas Mavericks, the team that gave them a run for their money during the first round of the playoffs.

The Spurs-Mavericks game will be followed by Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers squaring off against his former teammate Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets at Staples Center.

The next day, Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls face off against Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks, which features the debut of new coach Derek Fisher. The Bulls-Knicks game is followed by a marquee matchup between the Oklahoma Thunder and the Portland Trailblazers.

LeBron James will highlight his first game since his return with Cavs as they host the Knicks on Oct. 30. The following night will be one of the Cavs' important regular-season games as they take on the Bulls at United Center. Aside from the first Bulls-Cavs game, the two teams will meet again on Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 19.

Over at ABC, the much-anticipated Christmas Day games will feature James facing his former team as the Cavs make their way back to Miami. A Western Conference finals rematch is in the offing as the Thunder pay the Spurs a visit, while a collision course between rivals Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors is also scheduled.

This season, the Bulls, Cavs and Thunder will be the top three teams that will be featured on national television.

Both the Cavaliers and Bulls are schedule for 10 games on TNT, five on ABC, and 10 on ESPN. On the other hand, the Thunder will have nine games on TNT, six on ABC, and 10 on ESPN.

James and Durant will have their first head-to-head of the season on Dec. 11 in Oklahoma City.  They'll encounter each other again in Cleveland on Jan. 25.

On Nov. 11, ESPN will feature a Rockets-Timberwolves game in Mexico City, followed by the Miami and Indiana's first duel of the season.

The Toronto Raptors will have a total of four games to be aired on national television after not being featured on U.S. television since 2008. The first of four games will be against the Chicago Bulls on Nov. 13.

On Mar. 12, James will attempt to regain composure as he returns to San Antonio, the place that marked the end of his 2013-2014 season with Miami.

This season, NBA commissioner Adam Silver responded to the players' request to have a longer midseason break. Teams can now enjoy a full week off around All-Star Weekend to give way to participating stars to have additional time to rest.
