An American woman's body was discovered stuffed into a suitcase on the island resort of Bali, Indonesia. The woman's daughter and her boyfriend have been detained for questioning by Indonesian police.
The woman was identified as 62-year-old Sheila Von Wiese-Mack from Chicago. Her body was severely beaten and stuffed into a suitcase which is said to have been placed into the trunk of a taxi outside the upscale St. Regis Bali Resort.

Police Chief Col. Djoko Hari Utomo says that Von Weise-Mack's 19-year-old daughter, Heather Mack, and her daughter's boyfriend, 21-year-old Tommy Schaeffer, hired the taxi and loaded the suitcase into the trunk. They told the driver they would return after checking out of the hotel, but after two hours, hotel security suggested the driver go to the police when they spotted blood.
Police opened the suitcase at the station and found the body of Sheila Von Weise-Mack inside.
Chicago neighbors of Von Weise-Mack and her daughter describe their relationship as volatile. Local police have often been summoned to their home on calls of abuse, theft, missing person's reports, and domestic violence.
The mother even suffered a broken arm during a past argument which turned violent.
Tensions between them were present even right before the trip to Bali when Von Weise-Mack reported her credit card stolen, only to find her daughter and Schaeffer in the Conrad Hotel in Chicago, ringing up a $1000 bill without her authorization.
CCTV video in Indonesia shows the mother and daughter arguing in the hotel's lobby.
Mack and Schaeffer were arrested on Wednesday morning in a hotel 6 miles away in Bali's Kuta area. Initially they claimed to have been abducted by an armed gang who killed Von Weise-Mack and they managed to escape. Afterwards, they refused to answer questions until they were joined by attorneys.
Although both are being detained by police for questioning, neither has been charged with any crime.
