Brave Little Girl Survives 11 Days in Chilly Siberian Forest with Trusty Pup

A three-year-old little girl was found in a Siberian forest with only her trusty canine friend by her side. They had managed to survive the jungle inhabited by bears and wolves for 11 days.

Karina Chikitova wandered from her home at a far-flung village in Sakha Republic with her dog. Her mother believed that Karina and the pup followed her father after he left for his native village on July 29.

Due to the lack of means to communicate, it took four days for the family to realize that the young girl was missing and to launch a wide search for her.

Karina managed to survive one of the coldest areas with only her dog to comfort her. The two had cuddled up beneath the tall grass to stay warm so the rescuers had a difficult time finding them.

She had survived on only berries and river water for eleven days waiting to be rescued.

Reports state that rescuers made use of a drone and a helicopter to track the girl but were unable to locate her because of the density of the forest.

Nine days after they disappeared, Karina's dog found its way to their home, leaving the little girl's family saddened because they thought that she was long gone.

But a positive turn of events occurred when the smart canine led the search party to Karina, ending more than a week of search throughout the thick Siberian forest.

Rescuers believe that if not for the dog, Karina could not have survived being exposed in the extreme cold in Siberia.

After medical and psychological examinations, the rescue team confirmed that Karina was unharmed except for several insect bites and scratches on her feet. She had also lost weight but remembers everything that had happened to her and her dog.

News reports now call her the "miracle girl." She is currently resting and regaining her health in a hospital and is expected to make full recovery soon.
