Democrat Andrew Romanoff clashed with three-term Republican Representative Mike Coffman in Colorado’s 6th Congressional District race and the battle might come down to the issue of immigration reform.
The result of the highly competitive House race in Colorado will depend on Latino votes and immigration reform issue. Eleven Republicans including Coffman were opposed to President Obama’s 2012 executive action in immigration which grants amnesty to qualified young undocumented immigrants in the U.S., NBC News reported.

Coffman actively opposed the comprehensive immigration reform and voted to stop Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive action, some reports confirmed.
According to Denise Baron, Romanoff's communications director, they believe Coffman's reversal of votes in the Immigration issue and suspension of attack on DACA was because of his strong opponent in the tough election.
Team Romanoff was glad to see Congressman Coffman following the Democratic former House speaker's lead, Baron added.
Some reports show that the 6th district is divided evenly among Republicans, Democrats and unaffiliated voters, and of course a large population of Latinos. t is also among the most diverse districts in the country.
However, Team Coffman will not go down without a fight. Coffman explained that he is still looking for solutions added that he is advancing the principles that will benefit both the district and the country.
Coffman reversed his place and supported the legislation in order to offer conditional legal status to undocumented children if they serve in the military, reports suggested.
Kenneth Bickers, a political scientist at the University of Colorado Boulder, said Coffman's campaign plan could work in winning the votes of the veteran families. However, Romanoff might have a chance since immigration plays against him.
