Toshiba's take on wearable technology offers no global positioning system, heart rate sensor, or an LED or LCD display to tell a user what's happening. The only sensor the smart band has is an accelerometer.
Toshiba's smartwatch is dropping everything unnecessary for it to do its basic job, which is to monitor the wearer's activities and send information to a paired mobile device such as a smartphone or a tablet. This data can be inspected and analyzed at a later time.

The simplicity of Toshiba's WERAM1100 smartwatch, however, isn't unique as many of its competitors forgo the tendency to include anything and everything in favor of a more dedicated device.
Toshiba's version of a fitness band measures numerous physical activities such as calories burned, steps taken and distance traveled. Similar to many of its rival wrist-wearable technologies, the WERAM1100 can also track sleep patterns and sleep states, which is a growing are of interest as of the moment.
The fitness band, however, is sophisticated enough to figure out a user's activities on its own, so the user doesn't need to switch the device to sleep tracking mode before turning in.
The "smart" side of the wearable technology comes through the WERAM1100's connection to a smart phone or tablet running its own unique app.
The link could be made through Bluetooth. The fitness band supports both the 4.0 version, which is the more energy efficient compared to the standard, and version 3.0.
With the program, owners of the device are able to view his statistics in graph form, as well as upload other data the device can't monitor on its own such as pictures of meals and calories consumed.
To date, Toshiba hasn't disclosed any information about which operating system the WERAM1100 supports, but it won't be too far off to assume the smartwatch is compatible with the iOS, according to Slash Gear.
