Mozilla on Tuesday released a new version of their browser named Firefox 42, which has an additional feature called Tracking Protection.
The Tracking Protection feature supports Mozilla Firefox's existing private browsing mode and serves as an ad blocker.
Mozilla Firefox developers said most websites rely on different third-parties to provide things like social network buttons, analytics, and display advertising. They explained that third-parties use page elements that tracks browsing activity in order to build profiles about users. Tracking Protection blocks some page elements that may be used to monitor a user's behavior across sites when in private browsing mode. Online advertisers who attempt to track a user's profile will not get paid for impressions because their ads will not be shown or viewed. They added that the organization believes in giving users more choices and control over its own web experience. Firefox seeks to create a balance between commercial profit and public benefit since it is critical to the health of the web.

Tech Crunch reported that Firefox 42 also features an icon of tabs playing audio with the option to mute with a single click. Firefox 42 is playing catch-up since the one-click mute function has been featured on Google Chrome for a while now.
According to ZDnet, Firefox 42 will open the HTML source of web pages in a new tab rather than in a new window. The new version also features IPv6 support for WebRTC and remote website debugging over Wi-Fi. Mozilla Firefox control center was also improved with site security, privacy controls and a refurbished login manager.
Over the past months, Mozilla has added suggested tiles and released Firefox Hello integration. They have also began discussing plans to move away from Mozilla's own XUL language. Firefox 42 is now available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
