The profit of Tencent Holdings jumped 24.8 percent to 12.7 billion yuan on a 54 percent surge in revenue to 43.9 billion yuan in 2012. With the continuing growth in revenue and profit, the China's largest Internet Company maintains trendy software, like QQ and WeChat, and the online shopping mall Yixun. Ma Huateng's wealth rises correspondingly as the market value of Tencent Holdings keeps increasing. According to statistical data, at the beginning of Tencent listing in Hong Kong in 2004, the company's market value is only several billion yuan. But Tencent's market value has reached to 455 billion yuan by now.

The success of Ma Huateng and Tencent reflect a larger trend of Internet dominating such wealth rankings. Four of the top 10 wealthiest men are Internet entrepreneurs of some kind. Three men on the list have a real estate background, an indication that just two fields are dominating family wealth in China.

Many research institutes believes that Tencent, Baidu and Alibaba are becoming the tripartite largest powers in China's Internet market. In this year's wealthy list, Li Yanhong, the chairman of Baidu Inc., takes the second place with a net worth of 41.1 billion yuan. And last year, Yi Yanhong was the third one with 38.6 billion yuan on the list.
