Chronos Company on Thursday introduced its first product in the market called Chronos Disc. Chronos Disc is a slim, stainless steel disk that attaches to the underside of any watch and turns a simple watch into a smartwatch, giving it a few smart feature such as phone notifications.

Gadget Review reported that Chronos disc is about 2.5 millimeters thin and 33 millimeters in diameter. According to Chief Executive Officer Mark Nichol, the size of the disc is small enough to fit under about 80 percent of the watches today. Nichol added that he tried Chronos out for himself on a couple of analog watches.

Chronos disc is connected via Bluetooth to a smartphone. The disc lightly vibrates or emits LED glows when there is a notification on your smartphone. Users can also set different style of vibrations or colors for different phone alerts such text messages, Phone calls, calendar invites, and other specific app notifications. Those settings can be controlled using Chronos app for Android and iOS.

Nichol explained that when the watch was on his wrist, the device shines a short radius of glowing light from beneath a watch in a wide spectrum of colors, and even multicolored animations. He added that the emitting light can be customizable. Users can set red for work email, green for text messages from specific contacts, blue for calls, and purple for an Uber ride arriving.

The Chronos disc has similar features with some smartwatches in the market such as a fitness tracking system. The disc does not have a heart-rate monitor, but it has a built-in accelerometer that can track steps, distance traveled, and movement. Chronos disc uses the built-in sensor to detect taps.

The device battery life is said to last about three days. The disc will be shipped with a cradle for wireless charging. It is attached to the bottom of watches using micro-suction adhesion and leaves behind no residue when peeled off.

Chronos will be available spring of 2016 and starts at a price of $99 but rises to $129 once it ships.
