Google announced on Friday that it is updating a feature that adds holiday hours to Google Maps and Search.
The company added holiday hours to map and search to enable users acquaint themselves with the special holiday business schedule. Users can view details of retail stores and other establishments using this new update. These features will ultimately help users save time since one does not have to call a business or check their website to find out if they are operating.

Tech Aeris reported that users can see what hours a company will open and close during the holiday. If the business has not listed holiday hours, users will see a message informing them that the hours may not be accurate due to the holiday. When users choose the 'Open Now' button, one can be able to filter their results and see only places that are open on that particular holiday.
According to Google Maps and Local Search product manager, Jonathan Sidi, this new update includes a holiday schedule, which means users can check if a store is open on Thanks giving or Christmas day and so on. Sidi explained that users will see a special mark on operating hours of stores, like "Christmas eve hours," and these short messages will come directly from Google and retail store administrators.
This new update is rolling out globally. It does not matter where you are located in the world, you will see specific information for the country you're located in. Tourists who use Google Maps app can check if a coffee shop in London is open on Christmas Eve or a local bread store in Paris is open on New Year's Day 2016.
Last week, Google Maps added traffic alerts for Apple iPhone. This new update gives spoken traffic alerts in navigation mode, notifications about traffic conditions like road accidents, and also provides verbal summary of route's condition.
