Singer Gwen Stefani says that her split with musician and actor Gavin Rossdale came as a huge surprise after she found out that he had been cheating on her with their children's nanny for three years. 

After months of speculation the real reason behind Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's abrupt divorce has finally been revealed. A source close to the former couple revealed that Gavin was cheating on the 'No Doubt' singer for three years with their nanny Mindy Mann, who has been looking after their three children for the past couple of years.

The Bush rocker and actor, however, denied the allegations during an argument with Stefani - even after messages and nude photos of Mann were found on the family's iPad and informed Gwen.

Gavin is said to have described the exchanges as 'flirting' and has since admitted to having an illicit affair with the nanny. A source says that "Gwen was devastated, she was mortified, livid and embarrassed all at the same time because this was happening right under her nose and she had no idea until the messages and the photos were accidentally synced to the family iPad." 

Gwen is said to have confronted Gavin in February this year and was livid when he finally confessed. It was also reported that on the same day Gavin confessed to having an affair with the nanny, Gwen fired her on the spot.

The family first hired Mann, an Australian citizen, in 2008 as a filler, but later she became a permanent nanny to the children. In 2012, photos emerged of Mann and Rossdale on a hike together with the children. One photo showed Rossdale placing his hand on the nanny's backside, but it was brushed off when tabloids mistook her for his older sister Soraya.

A source close to Gwen says that the singer tried everything to keep her marriage together, but she just could not take the embarrassment and hurt that Gavin's affair caused her.

Since her divorce, Gwen has been dating fellow "The Voice" mentor Blake Sheton. It is not known whether or not Gwen will get full custody of her three children or if she will be sharing custody with her now ex-husband Gavin.
