On October 13, 2015, actress Jennifer Lawrence penned and published an essay entitled "Why do I Make Less Than My Male Co-stars?" That same day, it was announced that Lawrence had backed out of Sony's "The Rosie Project," but no reasons were revealed for her decision until now.
Sources close to the 'Hunger Games' actress revealed that she walked away from the film after a lengthy and very difficult negotiation with Sony Chairman Tom Rothman. The actress was asking for $20 million, which was the same amount that was offered to her to co-actor Chris Pratt in the film "Passengers".

Lawrence felt like the negotiations for "The Rosie Project' became too overbearing and too lengthy that she just lost all interest in the film. A Sony insider revealed that "If it just didn't take too long, it would not have fallen apart and Jennifer would still be part of the film."
Richard Linklater, a screenplay writer who is being managed by the same talent agency as Lawrence, also backed out of the film shortly after it's supposed leading lady lost all interest in the project.
'The Rosie Project' is based on the bestselling novel by Graeme Simsion. It tells the story of a woman who upends the world of an unlucky-in-love University professor looking for a loving life through a foolproof and highly effective questionairre.
It is unknown if the film will be still be made seeing as it's lead star has backed out because she apparently had too much time to think about it.
