Chinese taxi driver takes advantage of red light to do push-ups

July 21st, a Changchun resident Mr. Yu took a picture with his cellphone when he was waiting at the red light. Mr. Yu told journalist: "There was a taxi in front of his car. The taxi driver is an elderly man. When the vehicle flow was stopped by the red light. The driver opened the door. I felt a little strange. I thought maybe his car broke down. However, he warmed up for a few seconds on the field and did several push ups rapidly. Then he clapped his hands and got into his car. At the moment, the traffic light changed to green. So the driver switched on the ignition and drove away." Mr. Yu said he was completely surprised by the scene yesterday.

A reporter visited the taxicab service company in Changchun to search for the bizarre taxi driver. It turns out that he was taking exercise. Mr. Fang, who does push-ups during red lights, is nearly 60 years old. He said he has been driving a taxi since 2007. "It's my habit to take practice when waiting at the red light. I'm enjoying taking every spare minute to do some regular exercise. Exercise is very important for our body." Mr. Fang said.

Mr. Fang also brought a fitness stick, and put it in his car. So when there is a traffic jam or he is waiting at the light, Mr. Fang will use the fitness stick to percuss his body in order to keep fit.

There is a Jianzi in his car. Jianzi is a traditional Asian game in which players aim to keep a heavily weighted shuttlecock in the air by using their bodies, apart from the hands. If there're no passengers, he will stop his taxi by the park, and play Jianzi with others. Mr. Fang said, after long-time persistence, now his health has been improved a lot.
