Activision has revealed that the new Call of Duty: Black Ops III generated more than $550 million in global revenue within the first three days after it was released.
In a press release on Thursday, the company said their military shooter game is now the biggest game launch of the year. The $550 includes both the physical and digital copies of the game sold. It is unclear if the PlayStation 4 bundle was also being tallied as part of this figure.

Activision surpassed Microsoft's Halo 5: Guardians which generated $400 million in sales after a week - the biggest record for the Halo franchise overall.
Way back on 2012, the predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops II generated $500 million in sales after just 24 hours.
Gamespot reported that the total worldwide sales of the game "rose significantly" during the first three days after the launch on November 6, surpassing Advanced Warfare and Ghosts.
The downloaded copies of the game for PS4 and Xbox One jumped almost 100 percent compared to the sales of Advanced Warfare. According to Activision, the game also set a new all-time record for "engagement" per player. Black Ops III owners are playing for more hours per player compared to any Call of Duty game released. The company reported that Black Ops III players logged for more than 75 million hours online starting from November 6 until 8.
Activision said that Black Ops III's $550 million in revenue just in three days is biggest than any movie, any game, or any entertainment launch this year. According to Sony, PlayStation 4 is the best place to play Call of Duty. Sony added that the PS4 version of the game reached a new record to become the best-selling digital game by units sold in its first day in PS4 history.
GameStop merchandising director Bub Puzon said that the game is the most successful title launch so far this year.
