Television soap star Nathaniel Marston, 40, has been reported dead several weeks after he went into coma following a car accident. Martson's mother, Elizabeth Jackson, broke the news of his death on Facebook Wednesday, according to the Daily Mail.

On her Facebook page, Jackson wrote "Dear family and friends, it is with a heavy heart that I share this devastating news. My beloved and cherished son, Nathaniel Marston, who was putting up the good fight until last night was not able to continue due to the traumatic and devastating nature of his injuries. Nathaniel passed away peacefully as I held him in my arms."

Marston was paralyzed after he suffered severe injuries due to a car accident on October 30, 2015 in Reno, Nevada. He underwent surgery but his heart stopped on two occasions.

"In the early morning hours of November 5, his heart stopped on two separate occasions, requiring doctors to use an external pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat," Jackson said earlier. "He remains in critical condition, fighting pneumonia, a heart infection and irregular pulse. The relatively positive prognosis which followed his previous surgery has dimmed."

In a report from the Huffington Post, the As The World Turns and One Life to Live actor is reported to have falln asleep while driving. As a result, his vehicle flipped several times. Marston was thrown out though the windshield. The accident damaged several of his vertebra.

"Had Nathaniel lived, he would have required a ventilator and would never have been able to utter one more word, and would have been sentenced to life as a quadriplegic. A condition that Nate would never have been able to tolerate," Jackson wrote on her Facebook page.

There will be memorial services for Marston in New York City; Kauai, Hawaii; and Gerlach, Nevada.
