Cancer-afflicted kids are being cheered up with Disney princess wigs given to them. The Magic Yarn Project, created by former nurse Holly Christensen, is behind this initiative. The wigs given to the kids are made of yarn. Yarn was selected for the project because its warm and comfortable texture is suitable for the cancer patients.

This heart-warming project began after the daughter of Christensen's friend was diagnosed with cancer.
"Last fall one of my friends from nursing school, I found out their daughter was diagnosed with cancer," she said to KTVA. "I knew having been a cancer nurse what she was about to go through."
Christensen has made wigs for her own children and saw how much they loved it. She knew that making one for her friend's daughter would also bring her joy.
The project is now working to make Disney princesses wigs for thousands of families and hospitals nationwide. Requests are overflowing from families who are bravely fighting against cancer. The wigs are given for free.
"We have individual families contacting us wanting wigs for their own little girls who had just been diagnosed and we have four hospitals right now that have ordered wigs," a source told KTV as cited by Fox News.
The project relies on monetary donations to provide the raw materials and pay for the shipping costs. The project is calling volunteers from all over the country to help make Disney princess wigs for young cancer patients.
According to KTVA, Christensen looks forward to making as many Disney princess wigs as possible to bring smiles to young cancer fighters. The former cancer nurse also hopes to work with non-profit organizations such as Make-A-Wish Foundation.
She writes on Go Fund Me website that her intentions for starting a non-profit organization was 'to increase wig production and delivery.' She calls this the "Share the Magic" campaign.
Christensen says that giving wigs to children is a wonderful experience, but what is truly magical for her is seeing all the people who take time to volunteer for the project.
