Holm reportedly threw a series of powerful jabs and was able to keep Rousey at a distance.
"Some crushing overhand lefts from the southpaw landed right on the button and left Rousey's face bloody, with the underdog [Holm] clearly taking the points in round one," ABC Online described the first round of the fight.
Rousey was able to get closer to Holm in the second round but that only gave the latter a chance "to dish out more punishment."
Holm gave out some left hooks before executing a perfect left kick which landed right under Rousey's jaw.
Holm remains undefeated at 10-0 while Rousey suffers her first defeat at 12-1.
