Snapchat, the app famous for its self-destructing message format, recently announced a new paid feature that will allow users to keep their posts instead of automatically deleting them after a period of time.
Snapchat claims that the new feature was launched in order to cater the demands of its user. The new feature will cost users 99 cents per lens in order to keep it forever. Snapchat spokeswoman Mary Ritti told the Los Angeles Times that "Our community really loves the lenses and have been asking to keep them for longer than a few days. We created the Lens Store to give them that option."

In-app purchases are just one of the many features implemented by several apps in order to generate income. Dating app Tinder recently announced that its revenue skyrocketed after the launch of a highly requested feature. Prices for in-app purchases vary, with some apps charging $10 for a package while some features may cost users in upwards of a hundred dollars.
According to Tech Crunch, Snapchat will initially offer 30 lenses. The company said that these lenses will be available for users to use daily. On the other hand, Snapchat did not reveal when or how often they will release new lenses.
Despite the introduction of premium lenses, Snapchat said that the free lenses will not be taken away and will stay free.
Along with the new Snapchat Store, the company also launched its own verified accounts. This will allow users to make sure that the celebrities they are following are the real deal and not just some fake accounts made under their name. Facebook and Twitter have already implemented this feature for many years now.
