French Flag Filter Added to Facebook Profile Pictures to Show Solidarity With Paris

A French flag filter is being diaplayed over users' profile pictures on Facebook as a sign of solidarity with Paris following the recent deadly terrorist attacks.
If Facebook users want to pay respects and show support for France, they can customize their profile picture using the 'Causes' feature on Facebook.

Once the 'Try it' button -- located on the bottom right-hand side of the box -- is clicked, Facebook will allow one to select a cause. Currently, France is the only cause listed.
A drop-down menu can be used to select the length of time that the customized profile picture will be displayed. When, 'use as profile picture' is clicked, Facebook will automatically update the image.
Some people have altogether decided to change their profile picture to the iconic Tour d''Eiffel and the French flag on Facebook and other social media platforms including Instagram and Twitter.
Facebook Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg posted a support message to the city on his own page. He said that there is no place for violence such as this in any city or country in the world. He also added that it is very important to connect with people especially our loved ones and these are the moments when it matters most.
Radical Islamist terrorists murdered at least 127 people across six locations in Paris this past Friday.
To support France and the people of Paris, users can change their profile picture, according to Facebook's update. Facebook has also activated its safety check system for the people in Paris to notify their friends and relatives that they are safe with just one click.
