The Massachusetts Governor said that this incident will continue to be top priority until the suspects are found and that local and state law enforcement will be working with the FBI.
After the confirmed weapon disappearance, State Officials ordered tightened security around the base in lieu of the terrorist attacks in Paris and other parts of the world.
According to the Boston Herald, the United States Government has been made aware of the missing weapons from the Army Reserve. The missing weapons have reportedly been put in the NCIC national database.
However, there has been conflicting reports on what type of weapons have been stolen. The original report stated that ten pistols, six M4's and several "long guns" were reported missing. However, according to the news report, the weapons cache robbed only includes several handguns and semi-automatic rifles.
Kristen Setera, spokeswoman for Boston Special Agent in-Charge Harold H. Shaw, has stated that the FBI is working in tandem with both local and national law groups to swiftly find the weapons in question.
Setera has also gone on record to say that currently the FBI does not have reason to consider this an act of terrorism and that the case is being treated as a robbery.
The FBI and local officials are looking into how the thieves were able to break into a supposedly tightly secured facility.
