After weeks of rumors and tongues wagging as the public guessed who the celebrity in the "HIV Positive" blind item was, Charlie Sheen has admitted to being the subject of the tabloid blind items.
The former Two and a Half Men star confirmed the rumors with Matt Lauer on NBC's The Today Show. "I am here to admit that I am HIV positive. I have to put a stop to this onslaught, the barrage of attacks and sub-truths. It's a very harmful story that can threaten the health and the careers of many other people in the industry. It could not be any farther from the truth, it's me," he said.

Sheen confirmed that the diagnosis arrived four years ago and that he has spent millions trying to keep it from the public, "I once spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep a certain porn star quiet because she saw my HIV prescription medication and took a photo of it, she threatened to sell the story to the tabloids" the 50-year old actor told Lauer.
Lauer, later confirmed that the money Sheen spent to keep the porn star quiet reached $10 million.
He also spoke about what led to the diagnosis "It started with a series of headaches and night sweats, I thought I had a tumor so I had it checked, after a series of tests the doctor came into my room and told me that it was not a tumor but was in fact HIV. I thought it was over because it is a hard three letters to absorb, it's a complete turning point," he said.
When asked about his career Sheen answered "I've been up and down, rich and poor. I'm a survivor. This is just another chapter in my life and if there was one guy who was going to contract it and help find a cure, it's me."
Charlie's doctor has confirmed that the actor does not have AIDS and although he has HIV, the actor is said to be very much healthy.
