Kensington Palace has announced that the Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, are set to embark on an official royal to India early next year. However, no further detail was given whether the royal children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will join them.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit India in the spring of 2016. The visit is being undertaken at the request of Her Majesty's Government and will be the first time The Duke and Duchess have visited the country. Full details will be confirmed early next year," said the Palace announced released last week Friday.

The royal couple's visit will not only mark their first trip to India, but also corresponds with the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to England, where he was a guest of the Queen for a lunch at the Buckingham Palace. This was the first visit from an Indian prime minister to Britian in about a 10 years.

The upcoming visit to India will be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first trip abroad next year. This year, it can be recalled that when the Duchess was still pregnant with Princess Charlotte, they went on for a three-day trip in the United States, mainly touring New York and Washington where Prince William had a meeting with President Barack Obama.

Aside from that, they also went on a three-week trip to Australia and New Zealand with Prince George that allowed the world to take a glimpse of the Prince in his toddler years. George also caught much attention during his playdate in New Zealand and Taronga Zoo visit in Sydney.
