China's weather observatory posted a blue alert on Saturday for Beijing and nearby regions. The warning stated that a drop in temperature and heavy snowfall in these places is expected in the next few days.
Predicted snowstorms are likely to hit the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Shanxi and Hebei provinces and Beijing and Tianjin municipalities over the weekend.

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) has announced that some areas affected will likely suffer up to 12-millimeter snowfall.
A significant decline in temperature is anticipated. A sharp decline to negative 12 and negative 18 degree Celsius are expected in the urban and rural areas, respectively.
Sun Jun from the NMC said that the coming storm will be lower compared with last year. This year snow came earlier with its first uncommon occurrence in Beijing on November 6, which is 20 days earlier. On Thursday and Friday, snowfall was reported in Hebei, Shanxi and Jilin provinces as well as the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The snow and rain are expected to continue for five days. After the snowstorm, China will enjoy blue skies and good air quality.
In line with this, the center advised citizens to take extra measures to minimizing transportation-related accidents. A video conference in the municipality of Beijing was conducted to make sure the necessities such as electricity and gas are complete. Furthermore, clearing roads by shoveling snow has already been arranged.
Experts are convinced that this year's El Niño is one of the strongest recorded ever and unprecedented events like these are consequences of climate change. China is one of the forerunners among developing countries to act on defining goals and taking up active measures against this global crisis.
