Actress Jennifer Lawrence and actor Jeremy Renner may have co-starred in the 2013 film 'American Hustle' but it seems like the two share a closer bond in real life.

According to People magazine, researchers over at ancestry.com, have found out that Lawrence and Renner are actually cousins. To be more specific, they are fifth cousins once removed.

A source says that the information was found after researchers tried to find a possible relation between Lawrence and her 'Hunger Games' co-star Josh Hutcherson. "They wanted to see if the two were related because they both have roots in Kentucky. Unfortunately, the researchers did not find anything but they kept the actor's profiles in the database," the source said.

It was revealed that while researching Jeremy Renners on roots, they found that he had a Tague Family line from Kentucky in his ancestral tree, which was identical to Jennifer's.

Michelle Ercanbrack, a family historian at ancestry.com, also said that "Once we realized that Jeremy and Jennifer had the same family line in their trees, finding a relationship between the two was not only quick but also really close."

Ercanbrack explains that the two actors share a common ancestor. A farmer named Robert Tague, who has turned out to be Lawrence's fifth-great grandfather while he is Renner's fourth.

What about the once removed? That just means that the 25-year old actress is a generation younger than the 44-year old Renner.
