After taking a break from showbusiness due to weight gain from hypothyroidism, Christine Kuo is back with an extended TVB contract and a new television series, "EU: Overtime Mission".
Kuo expressed her excitement over her new project, stating, "The company has arranged for me to film some variety shows. It will be a different experience."

The star took a leave of absence from TVB two years ago due to her disease, which caused her to balloon to 170 pounds. Aside from the hurtful words and criticisms thrown at her during that time, Kuo said she lost a lot of projects and endorsement deals because she had put on so much weight.
The weight gain and loss of work caused Kuo a lot of grief, and she admitted that she went through depression and emotional distress during that time. She credits her friends for pulling her out of her depression and helping her regain her health.
The actress shared that she took up golf to de-stress, and that investing in a dessert shop with some of her closest friends helped fast-track her recovery. Kuo was said to have invested a six-figure amount on the shop.
After two years of being away from television, Kuo made an appearance at the high-profile TVB Anniversary Gala where, although she appeared awkward in a tight-fitting gown, she stood proud beside her peers Raymond Wong and Jacqueline Wong.
Aside from being a TVB talent, Kuo won the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant in 2008 and Miss Chinese International Pageant in 2009.
