China held South Korea to scoreless draw in East Asian Cup

19:00 p.m. on July 24th, in the first match of second round in 2013 5th East Asian Cup, the Chinese national men's football team drew 0-0 with South Korea on Wednesday in Suwon, South Korea. The rival team members competed for a victory at the Hwaseong Stadium near Seoul on South Korea's own turf. China claimed their second draw in East Asian Cup after they held Japan 3-3 on Sunday.

After the match started, South Korea player Han Kook-Young fired a shot from all of 30 meters out on 13th minute, forcing China's goalkeeper Zeng Cheng into a fingertip save at full stretch. Zeng Cheng made other splendid save to repel a Korean long shot on 27th minute.

On 30th minute, Korean forward Seo Dong-hyeon was shown a yellow card, after he caught the China's goalkeeper Zeng Cheng in the neck.

After a prosaic opening of the second half, China took the opportunity to train some of their young players. Chinese coach substituted 21-year-old Wu Lei for Wang Yongpo, and Zhang Xizhe for Sun Ke. South Korea had several chances in the final 15 minutes but their forwards failed to convert any of goals. South Korea player Yeom Kihun's curling free kick from just outside the area breached China's defensive wall but was kept out by goalkeeper Zeng Cheng with a wonderful save.

The South Korea substituted a second striker and tried to break down China's flanks. This tactic do created a chance for Ko Mu-yeol in the closing stages but the substitute's forward went over the bar to let the chance slip. The game still remained scoreless after three minutes of injury time.
