When Celine Dion sings, the world listens. In a rare performance, the pop diva wowed spectators at the American Music Awards (AMA) with her tears-evoking tribute to victims of the Paris bombings.
The 47-year-old seven-time AMA winner took a day off her hectic Las Vegas gigs for the Nov. 22 event. She delivered a stirring version of iconic French singer Edith Piaf's "Hymne a L'Amour" while a slide show showing the French capital's landmarks was projected on the background. Her performance was so emotional that it has been hailed as the perfect tribute for those who died during the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, Nov. 13.

Celine was introduced by Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto.
"Tonight, we honour the victims of the unimaginable violence that has taken place in Paris and around the world. France matters. Russia matters, Syria matters, Mali matters, the United States matters. The entire world matters and peace is possible," Leto said.
Hymme A L'Amour was written by French music goddess Edith Piaf in 1949. It is a tribute to her lover shortly after his death.
Dion looked serious yet lovely as she performed in her black halter gown accented with a belt on the waist. Her full skirt with bold flowers along the bottom also complemented her attire as her golden hair waved across her shoulders. Dion belted her heart out and poured her soul; filling the venue with her strong emotions!
The lyrics of the song may have been in French but the message pierced through the hearts of the audience. In fact, the camera caught faces of the people in the crowd with tears. After singing, the music legend got a standing ovation from the crowd.
