A New Jersey court has sentenced to three years in prison a 54-year-old woman who left her wheelchair-bound daughter to die inside, unable to care for herself, inside their mobile home.
Janet Wilson, 54, was in shackle when Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson handed the sentence on Friday after the mother was found guilty of abandoning her 32-year-old daughter in their mobile home.

"I'm very sorry for what I have done. I loved my daughter very much," said the weeping Wilson.
But the question was that if she truly loved her wheelchair-bound daughter, why did she ran away and left Rebecca in such a deplorable state that she died on a hospital bed along with a dead dog in a steel cage?
Court records showed that the decomposing body of Rebecca Wilson was discovered by authorities after neighbors complained of foul odor emanating from the mobile home in Manchester.
On May 30 2013, police forcibly opened the mobile home after confirming that the stench came from inside.
And the police were in for a shocking discovery - Rebecca's decomposing body was on a hospital bed. Beside her was a cage that contained a dead dog. Everywhere was trash, flies, and other insects.
"The home was such a deplorable that when the police barged in. It was deemed unfit for human occupancy," a statement from the Manchester building code officials, which condemned the mobile home, said.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Rebecca was entirely dependent on her mother all her life because she was confined to a wheelchair. It was not known what type of illness Rebecca had.
Court records showed that Janet, the mother, had given up on her daughter and fled to Reno, Nevada and had been receiving Social Security checks intended for her daughter.
Three days before her arrest, Janet reportedly transferred $600 from her daughter's account to her bank, the police said.
The mother admitted guilt to reckless manslaughter.
